We had a wonderful class earlier this summer and we used the Ribbon Dying Technique. I just wanted to share with you all the cards and project we made using the dyed ribbon.
The cards all turned out so pretty and the ribbon was such a wonderful golden satin color. What a great project and a wonderful way to prefectly match your ribbon to your projects.
Each lady made a stationary card box and 3 cards to put into the box.
The boxes all turned out cute and the ladies were all very happy with the results of the ribbon dying.
If you haven't tried ribbon dying, you should. It is quick and easy to do and the ribbon matches your project to a T.
I also posted some photos to show you how easy it is to dye the ribbons.
These are the supplies I used:
Supplies you will need:
White Ribbon (I am using Organza)
Re-inker (coordinating color to match project)
Water (Spray Bottle, I am using an old Stampin' Mist)
Small Stamp Container
Paper Towels, gloves-optional, Q-Tips and tweezers, scissors
Embossing Heat Gun (dry the ribbon and heat set the ink)
Spray mist water using your misting bottle into the small empty stamp container. I used approximately 12 to 14 sprays of water from my stampin' mist bottle.
Add several drops of re-inker to the container you just sprayed the water into. I try to use equal amounts. So if I sprayed 12 times with water, I will use 12 drops from my reinker.
I like the richer darker look to the ribbon. The less drops the lighter it will be. The more drops the darker it will turn out.
I roll up my ribbon loosely around my fingers.
I am using Organza in this example.
I rolled up approximately 2 yards and put into the container with the water and reinker mixture.
See how the water and ink mixture is soaking up into the ribbon. I use my tweezers and a Q-Tip and move the ribbon around in the mixture until it all absorbed.
If you still have some white spots take the ribbon out and mix more of your mixture and put the ribbon back in and allow it to soak up the mixture again.
I let it set for a minute or two and take it out of the stamp container using the tweezers and lay the ribbon on the paper towels and blot dry the ribbon.
I then heat set and dry the ribbon using my embossing heat gun.
If you haven't tried this technique, try it and email me a card you made using the ribbon dying technique.
Hope you enjoyed the technique and thanks for stamping by!
